Welcome to Friends of Merri Creek

Merri Creek flows for about 60 kilometres from the Great Dividing Range north of Wallan, through Melbourne's northern suburbs to join the Yarra River in Abbotsford. We are a volunteer community group that has played an active and passionate role since 1988 in helping rehabilitate the Creek from a weed-infested drain to bushland haven.

We respectfully acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the traditional and ongoing custodians of the Merri Merri and pay our respects to Elders past and present, and recognise that sovereignty has never been ceded.

Protect Merri Creek!

Get involved!

The creek is the natural habitat of many living things. It is a beautiful oasis for many city dwellers in northern Melbourne.

But there are degraded sites that need restoration. Other threats to its ecological health are pollution and intrusive development.

Become a member. Get involved in the protection and maintenance of this beautiful creek and its parklands and learn more about the waterway and its tributaries.
