FoMC Northcote Gorge

FoMC Northcote Gorge is a working group of Friends of Merri Creek that is getting started in 2026 to care for Merri Creek and its environs in the Northcote Gorge area. The Northcote Gorge section of Merri Creek starts just north of Rushall Station and continues downstream to the Heidelberg Rd bridge. It contains regionally significant geological features. While some parts have seen vegetation restored to a high standard, others require the removal of woody weeds like elms and extensive revegetation works.

This group will help to care for Northcote Gorge through hands-on work, community education and advocacy for increased investment in weed removal and revegetation.
For more information about current and upcoming restoration works, see our article about the ‘Reveg the Gorge’ project in the Merri Growler.
