FoMC@Edgars Creek working bee
06th September 2026
By Ben Davis, FoMC Committee member
On the morning of Sunday 16th August, FoMC@Edgars Creek and 50 volunteers planted 450 plus plants along the banks of Edgars Creek, off the end of Arthur Street in Coburg North.
It is the first time that we have planted on the east side of that section of the creek, but we will certainly return to do follow-up plantings in coming years.
It was lovely to see so many residents of Arthur Street there, including a number of longtime FoMC@Edgars Creek members who we hadn’t seen at plantings for a while. A couple of newer members of the group, who themselves live in Arthur Street adjacent to the creek, have committed to keeping the weeds down by hand in the planting area. We have every confidence in them and in the survival rates of the plants planted!
As always, our plants were sourced from the Victorian Indigenous Nurseries Co-operative (VINC) thus ensuring they were of local provenance. We try to order and plant a mix of plant types and species for our plantings to ensure a diverse landscape.
There's another planting event coming up on Sunday 13 September.
