Local MPs sign the Petition opposing the proposed Melbourne Energy and Resource Centre at Woolert

On Sunday, 20 October, 13 representatives of the No Northern Incinerator group (click on link )met with state parliamentarians at the office of Bronwyn Halfpenny MP, in Thomastown. The group told Bronwyn, Lily D'Ambrosio MP (Mill Park) and Lauren Kathage MP (Yan Yean) of the its strong objections to the Incinerator proposal. After we each gave a short summary of why we were opposed to the Incinerator, the MPs signed the petition opposing the incinerator going ahead.

Friends of Merri Creek were represented. One of our concerns was that the facility does not propose to use best practice to protect Curly Sedge Creek (located within the proposed incinerator site) and Merri Creek (less than 1km away) from the operation of the incinerator. Our other concerns are set out in our submission to the EPA opposing the Incinerator (click on link to submission).

At the time of writing, the petition has over 900 signatures, so please add yours to help stop this polluting incinerator being approved. Here is a link to the petition:  https://www.parliament.vic.gov.au/get-involved/petitions/melbourne-energy-and-resource-centre/
