Committee updates and opportunities
29th October 2023
Two valued committee members are leaving us his year.
Anne Frost, along with being an active committee member, established the Wednesday Volunteers Group in August 2018. The group meets monthly to work at various sites along the Merri together with the Merri Creek Management Committee. While departing the committee, Anne will continue to organise this group.
Bernie Maguire's work in both selecting, then migrating our website to a new platform, plus developing our online membership infrastructure has been a great boost to our online presence. She has been a whizz at dealing with data and set up invaluable systems to help things run smoothly.
We are very grateful for the contributions Bernie and Anne have made to the Friends' operations and in furthering our mission. We wish them all the very best in their future activities and endeavours.
Positions vacant
We're looking for motivated members to put their hand up to support the Friends of Merri Creek by taking on an admin role. Doing so is a fantastic opportunity to gain new skills, learn more about Merri Creek and play an integral role in protecting and advocating for it. Filling the following roles is our current priority, but enthusiastic new committee members are also welcomed.
While not essential, it would be preferable that members in all of these roles also join the committee as it is the best way to stay connected and up to date. We meet monthly at 7:30 pm on the first Wednesday of the month, often catching up over a quick dinner together beforehand. Attendance at every meeting isn't essential, and the group also communicates regularly through email.
We are keen for you to bring your enthusiasm to make a difference, and your fresh ideas, to our work.
