Merri Creek Wednesday Volunteers

Date & Time
12 June 2024 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
(UTC+10:00) Australia/Sydney

Site: Merriang Road Conservation Reserve, Beveridge.
We will be planting trees, such as Manna Gum and Red Stringybark, to help improve the Grassy Woodland canopy.  We will also install tree guards to protect the saplings from predation by Kangaroos and Rabbits.  The planting has been made possible through the Greening Whittlesea strategy, which aims to increase canopy cover, increase habitat for wildlife, and reduce future impacts from climate change in the City of Whittlesea.
Where to meet at 9:50 am:
We will meet at the reserve management gate on Merriang Road in Beveridge, 3753. Google Maps pin:
The meeting point is opposite the intersection of Merriang Rd and MacGregor Rd.  Parking is available on the roadside at the gate; an MCMC staff member will be present to assist.
If coming from the inner northern suburbs, travelling on High St (State Route 29) northbound will become Merriang Rd.  Alternatively, take the Hume Fwy (M31) northbound.  Beveridge is approximately 40km north of Brunswick East.

Please bring water, sunscreen and a hat. It's important that you wear suitable protective clothing: long sleeves, long pants and enclosed shoes. We also encourage you to bring insecticide and familiarise yourself with preventative measures for the Buruli Ulcer.

We will finish around 12 midday.

MCMC will supply clean hand tools and gloves; however, you are welcome to bring your own.

Please don't attend if you are feeling unwell, or have cold or flu-like symptoms.

Any children (under 18) attending must at all times be in the company of, and under the direct supervision of, their parent or guardian.
