Merri Creek Wednesday Volunteers

We will work at Merri Park Wetland in Northcote.

Where to meet at 9:50 am:

Site information:

Merri Park Wetland provides habitat for a diverse array of native birds and several frog species. The wetland pools and surrounding vegetation help to clean storm water entering Merri Creek.

Activities:

We will be hand weeding sections of Merri Park Wetland overgrown with weeds such as Panic Veldt-grass and Pellitory to help stop them swamping the native grasses, herbs and shrubs.

Please bring water, sunscreen and a hat. It's important that you wear suitable protective clothing: long sleeves, long pants and enclosed shoes. We also encourage you to bring insecticide and familiarise yourself with preventative measures for the Buruli Ulcer.

We will finish work around 12 midday.

MCMC will supply clean hand tools and gloves; however, you are welcome to bring your own.

Please don't attend if you are feeling unwell, or have cold or flu-like symptoms.

Any children (under 18) attending must at all times be in the company of, and under the direct supervision of, their parent or guardian.
