Monday 2        Darebin Launch of Exhibition: Merri Creek: from wasteland to parklands
10.30am-12.00pm, Northcote Library, 32-38 Separation Street, Northcote (Melway 30 F8). The Mayor of Darebin, Cr Vince Fontana, invites you to the Darebin launch of this exhibition which documents the history of community action to transform Merri Creek. The guest speaker is award-winning playwright, Patricia Cornelius.

Northcote Library, 32-38 Separation Street, Northcote (Melway 30 F8). The exhibition continues documenting the history of community action to transform Merri Creek.

Friday 6           Guided Tour of the exhibition - at Northcote
7-8pm, Northcote Library, 32-38 Separation Street, Northcote (Melway 30 F8). Led by David Redfearn, President and Life Member of Friends of Merri Creek.

Saturday 7       Merri & Edgars Creek Confluence Area Restoration Group Site Maintenance
Meet at Connolly Ave Coburg, south of Murray Rd bridge, 1-3pm. Melway 18 A11.  Wear sturdy footwear and gloves. Phone Melissa 0417 255 873.

Sunday 8         Mother’s Day Habitat Heroes Planting & BBQ
East end of Jukes Rd Fawkner, 10am-12.30pm. Melway 18 A2. Bring Mum and/or others and help Mother Earth by planting indigenous flora to add to the habitat corridor along Merri Creek. Afterwards enjoy a free barbecue with vegetarian and Halal options. Funded by a Helen MacPherson Smith Trust Grant.

Sunday 15       2nd Merri Creek Bird Survey for 2016
Bird surveys will be held from 8.45-10.30am at seven sites along Merri Creek as listed below. Beginners welcome, BYO binoculars if possible, but no dogs please, as they reduce the number and variety of birds to be seen. The contact for all Birdwatch events is Ann McGregor 0429 386 102. Free leaflets on Merri Birds (normally $2) are available to all participants.

Egan Reserve - Normanby Ave: Meet at bluestone steps at end of The Grove, East Coburg (Melway 30 A3).

Edwardes Lake: Meet at the playground adjacent to Griffiths St, Reservoir (Melway 18 E5).

CERES to Moreland Rd: Meet at seats on the path at rear of CERES, near Blyth St, East Brunswick (Melway 30 B7).

Merri Park and Phillips Reserve: Meet at end of Victoria St, East Brunswick, at BBQ shelter (Melway 30 B8).

Hall Reserve - Yarra Bend Park: Meet at the Rotunda, Hall Reserve, off The Esplanade, Clifton Hill (Melway 2D D1).

Galgi Ngarrk (Craigieburn Grasslands): Meet at O’Herns Rd gate off Hume Highway, Somerton (Melway 180 E6).

Galada Tamboore: Meet at the end of Hatty Court, Campbellfield (Melway 7 K6).

Meet in the Parklands at the east end of Kingfisher Gardens in East Brunswick, 10am-12.30pm. Melway 30 B 7, follow the flags.  Funded by Melbourne Water Community Grants and the Merri Creek Environment Fund.

Bababi Djinanang, Merri Path at end of Jukes Road, Fawkner (Melway 18A2),10–11am.
(Bababi Djinanang is the Woiwurrung name for the former Jukes Rd Grassland)
Featuring: Welcome to the Wurundejri country and smoking ceremony; Unveiling the interpretive signage by Mayor of the City of Moreland; Native vegetation planting, storytelling and information stall.
This event is part of National Reconciliation Week and the date commemorates a significant milestone in the reconciliation journey - the anniversary of the successful 1967 referendum.

Thurs. 30         A little nature play
Near the Rotunda, Hall Reserve, Fairfield, 10:30-11.30am (Melway 30 G12). Open your child to the wonder and learning local nature provides, with a brand new program for two to five year-olds (carer or parent must attend). There will be nature items to feel, explore and make crafty creatures with. We will listen to frog calls and even meet a local frog.
